| In the
event your municipality is served with a summons and complaint for any reason,
there is a protocol you should follow. As with any claim, it is important
that you act quickly and send or fax the information to the service center,
overnight, to be processed. In the State of Michigan, for example, you have
21 days, after you have been served by mail, to present your response to
the other party. Be aware, that if your entity does not respond to the summons
and complaint in this timeframe, a default judgment can be entered against
you. After we have received your claim, we will process the information and it will then be turned over to the insurance carrier and assigned an adjuster. He or she will then draft a position letter indicating if your coverage will or will not apply.
